Lactation Services at MiLC

Midtown Lactation Consultants (MiLC) provides lactation consultation at our clinic. Midtown Lactation Consultants are licensed providers, serving families in and around Sacramento, California.

Prenatal Consultation

Anxious about what breastfeeding will be like for you? During this private 60 minute session, we will explore your medical history and previous breastfeeding issues. A breastfeeding plan will be tailored towards you and your family’s unique situation and goals. Both parents should be present.

Breastfeeding Class and Newborn Care Class

Both private and group classes are available. Both parents should be present. During the 60 min breastfeeding class we will prepare you for breastfeeding in the early days to help prevent issues before they start. During the 60 min newborn care class we will teach you how to be calm confident caretakers in the early newborn days.

Breastfeeding Problem Resolution

We will quickly work to repair any damage to the breastfeeding relationship to achieve relaxed, easy feedings. Common problems include slow or low weight gain, nipple pain or fussiness. We specialize in weaning clients off of interventions such as supplements or nipple shields. Our goal is for all clients to have exclusively breastfed babies and normal, functional lives. Most common breastfeeding issues can be managed in about 3 visits. Prescription Medication

Our nurse practitioners are able to prescribe medications for milk supply issues, postpartum depression and mastitis. We can answer questions about medication compatibility with breastfeeding.  

Insurance

MiLC, our Breastfeeding Medicine clinic, provides comprehensive evaluation and management of breastfeeding issues by licensed providers. For this reason we are able to take insurance just like any other medical specialist.

Tongue Tie

Our Nurse Practitioner is highly skilled and experienced in frenotomy procedures, more commonly known as releasing a tongue tie. This quick, minimally invasive procedure is available to established MiLC Clinic patients.

Mastitis and nipple infections

We are specialists of breast infections like mastitis and thrush. Able to diagnose and treat using lab tests, prescription medications, and breast imaging as needed.

Lab tests

If testing is necessary, blood draws, etc. are done in house. No need to go to a separate lab!
