Our midwives love their jobs.
Midtown Nurse Midwives is a home-grown, woman-owned, small business. Our purpose is to fill the gap in care in our community. We created the region’s only breastfeeding medicine specialty clinic and provide women’s healthcare in an alternative setting. We are opened a freestanding birth center to provide an alternative to hospital and home birth.
Bethany C. Sasaki, WHNP-BC, CNM, IBCLC
Founder & Director
Bethany is the founder of Midtown Nurse Midwives, and works full time as the Administrative Director of the both the birth center and the MiLC Clinic and as a staff CNM and NP. Bethany has been a Registered Nurse since 2000 with experience in pediatrics, emergency/trauma, women’s health and labor and delivery. In 2010 she opened a small lactation business to help fill the gap in care for mothers and babies in our community. This small business soon grew into a group practice to meet demand. Bethany became a Nurse Practitioner when she identified the need to add primary healthcare elements to her practice like prescribing medications, diagnosing and treating post-partum depression and treating infant tongue tie. In 2015 she opened the MiLC Clinic and in 2019 she opened a freestanding birth center in order to provide comprehensive care. She serves as the Vice President of the Capital Chapter of the California Nurse Midwives Association, and as a member of the Health Policy Committee and the Public Relations Committee.
Bethany’s style is low-intervention, straight forward and thorough. She provides guidance but always encourages women to make their own decisions. She is especially interested in treatment of breast pain and breast infections. She has published research on breast infections and continues to gather data for future studies.
